Scout Fun at The Discovery Center
Workshops and badges and museum play- Oh, my! There is so much to offer your scout troop here at The Discovery Center! From workshops, performances, and sleepovers, we are the place to be for exciting scout adventures. We can also come to your meeting location with any of our workshops! Don’t see a badge or journey topic that you’re working on? We can work with you to help achieve your scout goals.  **NEW** Workshops designed with Journeys in mind!

A Sleepover at the Museum!
Imagine sleeping near our fire truck or in our Giant Market! You arrive at 6pm with dinner awaiting you. The night is filled with museum play, badge workshop, and fun! Sleepover ends at 8:30am after breakfast. You bring the scouts and we do all the rest! Cost is $23 per scout. One adult admitted free for every 5 scouts. All other adults are $4 to cover the cost of food. You will receive a packing list upon confirmation. Minimum of 25 scouts is required. Don’t have that many in your troop? Daisy Programs
Trees are Terrific - November 6th 1-2:30pm $7 Trees are truly terrific and provide us with shade, food, and fun. We’ll learn why trees change color, how to identify some common leaves in our area, enjoy some tree made treats and make a beautiful tree necklace to take home. Inspired by Journeys
The Magic of Gingerbread - December 4th 1-2:15 pm $8 Learn about the history of gingerbread characters with a literacy twist! We’ll explore gingerbread characters in our favorite stories. We all know of the “Run, Run” fella, but what about the gingerbread girl? Or even the gingerbread cowgirl? Decorate a yummy cookie for you to eat. For Daisies and Brownies
Artsy Ornaments Snooze - Fun Friday Dec. 10th 6pm -8:30am Come share the yuletide spirit as we get crafty by making homemade ornaments to take home to decorate your tree with or give away as gifts. Enjoy hot cocoa and cookies as we play holiday games sure to make you smile! For Daisies and Brownies. All Daisies should bring a mom chaperone to share the sleepover fun.

Brownie Programs
Me and My Shadow - Fun Friday, Oct. 1st 6-8:30pm $9 includes
badge Come learn about light and shadows as we set
off on an investigation of how shadows are made. We’ll have
fun with shadow games, make Halloween shadow puppets, and
become shadow experts.
Spooky Science - Fun Friday, Oct. 22nd 6-8:30pm $9 includes
badge Your Science in Action badge takes on a spooky, Halloween
spin as we become mad scientists with fun hands-on experiments.
Watch as things pop, fizz, change color, and move.
Are you brave enough to feel the Gutsy Gertrude’s guts? How
does the coloring changing cauldron work? Come find out! Enjoy
the museum at night!
Art to Wear Snooze - November 12th 6pm- 8:30am Come get
snazzy with us as we create fun, wearable art designed by you!
We’ll paint, bedazzle, and make a mess that troop leaders don’t
have to clean up! Girls must bring a white or light colored Tshirt
to decorate. For Brownies and Juniors. Both earn the Art to
Wear badge. See Sleepover at the Museum for pricing.
Gingerbread Math - Dec. 4th 10:30-11:30am $9 includes badge
Your Math Fun badge will never be so yummy! We’ll learn
about the history of gingerbread and challenge our minds with
math stations using candy as game pieces. The fun concludes
with cookie decorating, hot cocoa and a fun holiday game. For
Older Brownies and Juniors. Brownies earn the Math Fun badge
with a gingerbread twist.

Junior Programs
Native Lore - November 6th 10:30am- 12pm $8 includes badge
Learn about the traditions and customs of the Native Americans
of our area with games, crafts, songs, and more. Girls will sit
around our ‘fire’ to hear stories that we also ways to teach important
lessons, play games that require no batteries, choose a
spirit totem and create a leather pouch to fill with gifts from
Mother Earth. For Juniors Only. Earn a special order Native Lore
badge.

Museum to You Scouts Program  $7  
Want to avoid the hassle of getting your entire troop to one location on time and in one piece? Good news! New this year is our Museum to You Scouts Program. We can bring many of our fantastic, hands-on programs that you love right to your troop meeting destination! We provide all materials and educator to lead your girls through an entire badge in a one and half hour period. You provide tables and eager learners. Museum to You Scouts is available on afternoons, evenings, and on limited weekends. Please call for badge selection. Additional fees apply for traveling outside of 30 minute radius of the museum. Minimum of 10 to book visit.
