Memberships are revocable licenses. The Discovery Center reserves the right to refuse or revoke membership and/or deny admission without refund for non-compliance with applicable rules and terms or for inappropriate conduct. Purchase of an annual membership does not entitle purchaser to renewal in a subsequent year. Membership levels, benefits, and prices are subject to change.

Can my membership be used to offset the cost of a field trip or group visit to The Discovery Center?2019-08-07T18:28:04-04:00

No. Memberships are non-transferable and may not be used to offset the cost of field trips or group visits. The Discovery Center offers discounted group rates for school classes and groups of 10 or more that make arrangements to visit the museum at least 1 week in advance of their visit. The names listed on a membership may be changed if there has been a change in the family’s circumstances, such as a death, a move, a change in relationship status, or a legal name change. Please notify the museum if requesting a name change 607-773-8661 or email help@thediscoverycenter.org. You will be required to turn in your membership cards before new cards can be issued.

Your membership entitles you and those listed on your membership to receive discounts on programs, including summer camps, and purchases at the Museum Store. Your membership cannot be used to obtain discounts for other relatives, extended family or friends.

Grandparents with grandparent level memberships may use their membership discount for their grandchildren’s participation in a program, providing they are purchasing the program.

Memberships must be current to obtain discounts on programs.

Can my caregiver or nanny use my membership?2019-08-07T18:27:13-04:00

The Discovery Center offers the Family Plus membership that includes admission for 1 babysitter or nanny to escort your child to the museum.
At the Contributing, Supporting and Patron levels of membership, up to 2 caregivers can be admitted.

A “caregiver” is defined as anyone other than the members named on the cards who would escort your child to The Discovery Center.

To use the Caregiver Privilege:

  • The caregiver must present the family’s current membership card at the time of admission
  • The caregiver must be at least 18 years old
  • The caregiver privilege does not entitle your caregiver to your member discounts on programs or store purchases. Your caregiver is not eligible to bring any guests outside the household when visiting
  • The caregiver privilege is valid up to 12 months and is valid for the duration of your membership
  • The caregiver privilege benefit does not apply to other museums

At the Family Plus, Contributing, Supporting and Patron membership levels, a member can bring up to 2 guests with them when they visit. (Please note that this benefit may not apply at other museums.)

At the Family level, regular admission must be paid for guests.

Discovery Center memberships and member benefits are not transferable to other individuals or organizations. Cards may not be passed to friends, relatives or extended family for admission.

2 adults who reside in the same household can be named on a membership. Your membership includes your children living in your household. Adults living at separate addresses cannot be named on a single membership. We do not put children’s names on membership cards for security reasons (in case the card gets lost or stolen).

1 adult cardholder must be present for free member admission to apply for the household, and cardholder must accompany children under age 16 during a visit.

How do I purchase a Discovery Center membership as a gift for someone else?2019-08-07T18:26:21-04:00

You can purchase a gift membership online, or by calling (607) 773-8661. Gift membership forms are also available at the Discovery Center’s front desk. A gift certificate will be issued in the name of the intended gift recipient. Please be sure to designate the address where you would like the gift certificate sent (to you or the gift recipient). The gift membership will begin when the gift certificate is redeemed at their first visit.
